AMC VEHICLE SOLUTIONS UNITED FORMULA FORD in association with LMC Technologies CHAMPIONSHIP
United Formula Ford roared into action for the 2022 season at Donington Park in April, and the James Beckett Motorsport and MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) administered championship has so far been providing great on-track entertainment with six different overall race winners from the opening eight races!
The AMC Vehicle Solutions United Formula Ford in association with LMC Technologies Championship has been created to provide a UK tour for all ages of Formula Ford 1600 car - a category that has been entertaining at tracks since 1967, and brings together the previous MSVR Heritage Formula Ford Championship and the ever popular Aumento Coaching Champion of Brands.
United Formula Ford runs a five class system, with the top five finishing competitors scoring points from the same system (5-4-3-2-1) at the end of each race. This allows the end of season overall champion to come from within any of the competing age group of car, and guarantees any racer a chance to be in a position to fight for the title and the opportunity to be crowned the United Formula Ford champion! And to reward victory, the overall race winner is handed two extra bonus points!
Two races take place at each United Formula Ford event, with action taking place on a single day. This design was implemented to help keep a cap on ever growing costs for competitors, and hand professional, or amateur, teams and drivers the opportunity to compete on a near level playing field.
Good news for competitors, and fans of FF1600 racing, is that the Aumento Coaching Champion of Brands, a series that returned to tracks under the guidance of James Beckett Motorsport and MSVR in 2010, is now an integral part of United Formula Ford. CoB racers compete within the United Formula Ford championship at three events this year, scoring points in dedicated Champion of Brands classes. At the conclusion of all the Brands Hatch races, a standalone champion will be awarded the Champion of Brands trophy at an end of season prize giving.
James Beckett, United Formula Ford Co-ordinator, says, "Everyone knows how passionate I am about Formula Ford 1600. The United Formula Ford concept was something that colleagues from MSVR and I started work on at the start of 2021, and now we see the championship ion action and providing great racing! United Formula Ford was designed to bring the entire Formula Ford community together in a single championship, and we celebrate the full history of Formula Ford 1600 at every event.
"Every Formula Ford 1600 car is eligible to participate, and our five class structure makes it possible for any competitor to score championship points in their class and fight to become the overall United Formula Ford champion."
Joe East, MSVR Competitions Manager, says, "We are delighted to develop our long-standing relationship with James Beckett Motorsport with the creation of United Formula Ford. James identified a gaping hole in the Formula Ford landscape and we are keen to build a strong championship for all of these iconic racing cars"
