The MINI CHALLENGE has become firmly established as one of the most important single make championships in the UK thanks to its combination of class structure, cost effectiveness and professionalism. The MINI brand brings a high level of public awareness to the championship and, to the astute aspiring race driver, it can be considered as a direct route to the BTCC. The new MINI CHALLENGE Trophy splits the Cooper, Cooper S and JCW Trophy into a seperate championship whilst the main JCW Class runs as a standalone championship supporting BTCC.
The 2020 JCW Class is arguably the nearest thing to a Touring Car you can buy, and via the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy competitors can gain a taste of these pocket rockets without the costs involved in the main MINI CHALLENGE supporting BTCC.
Cars are based on the Gen 3 F56 MINI Hatch using a powerful 2lt engine, sequential 6 speed gearbox, plated diff and bespoke electronics. Shells are fitted with a welded in cage, bespoke dash, bespoke switch panel, pedal box and casworth dash, whilst the suspension is uprated with 3 way Nitron dampers and powerflex bush kit. Externally the cars echo their BTCC big brothers with a BTCC inspired GRP bodykit.
The JCW Trophy adds additional cost control measures with tyre allowances limited to 2 tyres per meeting. All in all the JCW Trophy offers a cost effective way to enjoy the JCW Class MINI and a way to build experience before entering the main JCW Class.
