Heritage Formula Ford made its debut on MSVR calendars during the early part of the 2018 season as a series of races for the popular single-seater category, and for 2019, with the support of Zig Zag Lighting, Heritage Formula Ford graduated to a fully recognised point-scoring championship.
The Zig Zag Lighting Heritage Formula Ford Championship, created and administered by James Beckett and James Beckett Motorsport, celebrates a halcyon period of FF1600 racing. Having provided superb on-track action since 1967, the category remained largely unchanged until 1992. It is this (Pre '93) golden era that the Heritage Formula Ford Championship celebrates.
James Beckett says, "Formula Ford has a huge following and is a much-loved category - particularly at Brands Hatch, the birthplace of Formula Ford. Formula Ford has a tradition of providing really good racing, and I am pleased that Heritage Formula Ford, for Pre '93 era cars, has gained popular support from within the FF1600 ranks. This support allowed us to graduate the original series in 2018 to a championship for the 2019 season. Heritage Formula Ford is fortunate to have the support of MSVR, who provide the perfect home for championship. MSVR's organisation is first class, and grants competitors access to, and the ability to race on, some of the finest tracks in the UK."
Adding, "The 2019 season was very competitive, with Oliver White winning the title in fine style driving a Souley Motorsport-entered Van Diemen. I believe 2020 will see another great year of Zig Zag Lighting Heritage Formula Ford Championship action. FF1600 is famous for providing superb racing, and I am certain cars will be racing wheel-to-wheel during every race!"
Joe East from MSVR says, "We have worked with James now for a number of years, and there is no denying the incredible amount of knowledge and the contacts he has surrounding the Formula Ford category. We are really excited about the Zig Zag Lighting Heritage Formula Ford Championship. We have already witnessed some great racing, and look forward to witnessing close and exciting races during 2020."
