Heritage Formula Ford made its debut on MSVR calendars last year as a series of races for the popular single-seater formula, but for the 2019 season graduates from to a fully recognised point-scoring championship.
Six 2019 race meetings were scheduled for the Zig Zag Lighting Heritage Formula Ford Championship, with all races taking place at events organised by MotorSport Vision Racing.
Created and administered by James Beckett and James Beckett Motorsport, the Zig Zag Lighting Heritage Formula Ford Championship celebrates a halcyon period of FF1600 racing. Since 1967, FF1600 has been providing superb on-track action, and until the end of 1992 the formula remained largely unchanged. It is this golden era that the Heritage Formula Ford Championship supports.
James Beckett says, "Heritage Formula Ford proved a very popular addition to MSVR race calendars in 2018, and that competitor support provided us with the confidence to seek full Motorsport UK championship status for 2019."
Adding, "I believe we will see a great year of Heritage Formula Ford Championship action during 2019, as FF1600 is famous for providing superb racing. During the season the championship visits many of Britain's leading race tracks, granting competitors the opportunity to race their cars on famous circuits and follow in the wheel tracks of many legendary FF1600 racers."
Joe East from MSVR says, "We have worked with James now for a number of years, and there is no denying the incredible amount of knowledge and the contacts he has surrounding the Formula Ford category. We are really excited about the Zig Zag Lighting Heritage Formula Ford Championship. We have already witnessed some great racing, and look forward to the remaining rounds of the 2019 season.
