The Castrol Classic Oils Fastest Mini in the World Race will return to the popular Brands Hatch Mini Festival on Sunday 22 August with a bumper entry of high-speed racing machines based on the iconic compact car.
No fewer than 20 cars have registered for this summer's grid on the Indy circuit, many of which haven't been seen on track for a while. Some have been especially prepared for this race with unique chassis, aerodynamic and engine tuning.
There will be two outings for the Fastest Mini in the World Race cars throughout the day, with two 15-minute races for cars divided across four classes.
MSVR Competitions Manager, Joe East, said: "It's a brilliant turn out of racing Minis - They will put on a great display for both racers and spectators alike. This will be the largest grid for the Fastest Mini in the World Race in my 10 years at MSVR!"
Mini Spaceframe racer Peter Baldwin added: "The Fastest Mini in the World Race first took to the grid nearly 30 years ago - in fact it was 29 August 1994. It was a great race with myself, Martin Short and Bill Sollis battling for honours - we even had guest entering from Japan. The race itself was hard fought - Martin retired with mechanical failure and I broke a drive shaft allowing Bill to pip me at the end.
"It's a fantastic race that can draw upon a great pedigree of cars and racing drivers. I'm delighted to see such a grid. It's a treat for everyone to watch and brings back some brilliant memories."
