The Sports Racing Car Club (SRCC) Sports 2000 Championship will join MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) from 2020, adding four new classes to its extensive portfolio of series.
Each of Sports 2000’s classes – Duratec, Pinto, Historic, and Mini Enduro – will fall under the MSVR banner from the start of next season. This means that there will be opportunities for the owners of Ford-engined sports racers old and new to compete with MSVR in 2020.
MSVR will also oversee the organisation of next year’s calendar in collaboration with SRCC, ensuring that Sports 2000 competitors benefit from a first-class schedule, complete with appearances at major promoted events. Full details of next year’s calendar will be announced in due course.
In many ways this is a homecoming for the category as MSVR is run day-to-day from the MSV Group’s headquarters at Brands Hatch, Sports 2000’s birthplace.
The SRCC’s long-held philosophy has been to make racing fun, fair and safe for all of its competitors and that is set to continue under MSVR with its dedicated team of race officials and volunteers.
Colin Feyerabend, founder chairman of the SRCC and now Competitions Director for the club, said: “We have always operated as a standalone club and frankly never thought we would find a series organiser who would be able to both organise our championships and promote our brand of sports car racing.
"However soon after we’d begun exploratory talks with MSVR we were bowled over by their willingness to support us. We will continue to compete on the best UK and European circuits but will have the organisational and promotional support of the biggest name in UK motorsport. In turn MSVR will have one of the largest, most competitive and most sustainable grids in national motorsport; consequently it has the makings of a very mutually successful partnership."
MSVR Race Operations Manager and Club Secretary, Simon Gnana-Pragasam said: "We are delighted to officially welcome Sports 2000 to the MSVR fold from the 2020 season. We have had a long and successful relationship with the SRCC to date, usually hosting a couple of their rounds each year, and this new partnership is a natural extension of that. There is nothing quite like these unique sports racing cars in MSVR’s line-up, and the Sports 2000 competitors will also benefit from a strong calendar and our customer focus."
