Sportscar fans who missed Le Mans last weekend, or are after another fix of high-speed action, will find plenty to enjoy at Oulton Park this Saturday (20 June), with Lotus and Radical racing on the International circuit.
The day includes round four of the Lotus Cup UK Championship, a one hour mini-endurance race featuring pitstops for fuel, tyres and, for some of the teams, driver changes. Production class champion Adam Gore has been taking the top SuperSport category by storm in his new Exige V6, but will face a stern challenge from SuperSport champion Adam Knight as well as Adam Balon, the 2-Eleven of Ken Savage, and Adrian Hall's Series 1 Exige. In the Production class, the pairing of Stuart Ratcliffe and Anthony Dunn will be fighting Daniel Rowbottom and the driving partnership of James Little and Andrew Bentley.
Rowbottom won the last two rounds of the Elise Trophy at Rockingham to strengthen his title charge in the championship for Production class Elises and Exiges. The two 20-minute races will be fiercely contested, with Luigi Valentino Mazza, Craig Denman and teenager Ryan Savage the expected frontrunners this weekend.
The Radical championships will be running to a similar format this Saturday, with a 90-minute Radical Enduro race providing a climax to the action. The championship is open to the company's Le Mans-style prototypes, including the brand new SR3 RSX, SR3 RS, RXC coupé and SR8 models. Edward and Harry Cockill lead the main championship, but with just nine points separating the top two crews, that could all change this weekend.
There are a further three 20-minute races for the Radical Sprint Championship. Paddy McLughan and Ben Dimmack shared the wins last time out, with the former taking a double victory. The Oulton Park rounds should be frenetic, with a full grid of the prototype racers competing for honours on the undulating circuit. The entry-level Radical SR1 Cup will enjoy its second round of 2015, providing an exciting yet cost-effective introduction to motorsport for its competitors.
Tickets to the MSVR Club Car Championships at Oulton Park this Saturday 20 June are available on the gate for £14, with free entry for children aged under 13. For more information call 0843 453 9000 or click here.
