Aston Martin's illustrious racing history will be on display at
Brands Hatch this weekend (28-29 June), with Sunday's action taking
place on the legendary Grand Prix circuit.
The iconic marque's pioneering early years will be relived in
the Pre-War Team Challenge, in which Aston Martin sports cars do
battle against Austin Sevens and Bentleys. This event will begin
with a handicap start, meaning that the slowest cars will receive a
head start at the beginning of the race. In contests like this,
faster machines are frequently able to scythe through the field to
set up tense side-by-side finishes.
Aston's more recent racing history will be represented by the
AMR GT4 Challenge for modern V8 Vantages. These machines are always
a treat to watch as they tackle Paddock Hill bend.
AMOC's "Equipe" GTS series will please nostalgia fans as
production sports cars, from Aston Martin as well as other
manufacturers, are run to regulations similar to those run in
period. Astons will also face-off against other brands such as
Ferrari, Porsche and Jaguar in the Intermarque Championship, as
well as in the 50s Sports Cars, which recalls the era of great
racing all-rounders like Sir Stirling Moss.
The racing line-up will be completed by the Jaguar D-Types,
Austin-Healeys and Lotuses in the RAC Woodcote Trophy, as well as
the Innes Ireland Cup sports car race, which is expected to include
the might of the AC Cobra and Jaguar E-type.
