14/03/13 - Radical SR1 Cup novices were given their first taste
of on-track action at Snetterton 300 on Tuesday (12 March).
The 14 drivers in attendance were able to gain valuable track
time and maintenance tips. They were also treated to some
professional advice from Radical's works drivers, former Le Mans
winner Andy Wallace and veteran Ian Flux.
The day was also an opportunity for most of the competitors to
meet each other for the first time.
There were no notable incidents or reliability issues to report.
This allowed a full programme of driving to be completed, in which
the drivers could acclimatise to their cars. As the day progressed
this was highlighted by consistently improving lap times.
A practice start session was also carried out during the course
of proceedings. This exercise, which is believed to be a world
first in novice car racing, was positively received by all.
An even larger turnout is expected for the next test for the
Radical SR1 Cup at Brands Hatch on April 3. Amongst those expected
to appear at Brands Hatch is Great Britain's Olympic Hero Sir Chris
