15/03/13 - The 2013 MotorSport Vision Racing (MSVR) season
starts at Snetterton this Saturday (16 March), with a collection of
tin-top series on the 300 circuit.
Featuring this weekend are the opening rounds of the 2013 MSVT
Trackday Trophy and MSVT Team Trophy series'. Both categories cater
for an eclectic mix of saloon and sports cars, with many of the
drivers making their first forays into the world of motorsport.
The Trackday Trophy has been running since 2010 and is aimed at
trackday participants who aim to move into competition. The series
has introduced over 175 drivers to motorsport, with cars competing
ranging from Renault Clios to Ginetta G40s and Porsche 944s. A
total of 28 cars are expected for the event, split into four
categories according to brake horsepower per tonne.
The Team Trophy acts as a step up from the Trackday Trophy,
indeed many of the competitors will have raced in the Trackday
Trophy in previous seasons. The cars competing are broadly similar,
although don't be too surprised to see a powerful BMW M3 or Porsche
911 thrown into the mix as well.
Other series in action include the Nippon Challenge, featuring a
selection of Asian and Japanese sports and saloon cars, and the MR2
Race Series, which, as its moniker suggests, contains a packed grid
of Toyota MR2s.
MSVR visits Snetterton on 16 March, with tickets priced
at £10 in advance and free entry for children aged 12 and under.
