Nordstrom will be returning to their motorsport roots by getting
behind the wheel of a Mini at the Brands Hatch Mini Festival on
Two-time Mini Miglia champion and former British Touring Car
driver Curley will pilot a Mini for the first time in 10 years at
the event on the famous Brands Hatch Indy circuit. Also being
reunited with a Mini is former MINI Challenge champion and British
GT star Nordstrom, who is now plying his trade in the NASCAR backed
Euro Racecar Series.
Kent driver Curley, who won the Mini Miglia title in 1998 and
1999, is due to take part in the All-Comers race and will be
competing in a Mondosport modified Mini. The outing will be his
first race for six years which excites the Maidstone-based
Curley said: "I'm really looking forward to be racing a Mini
again and I'm massively excited to be a part of the Brands Hatch
Mini Festival. It looks like it's going to be a really top event
for Mini racing and one which I hope will be an annual meeting. The
car I'm going to be driving is a real tyre smoker so I should be
able to provide some entertainment."
Anglo-Swedish racer Nordstrom will make a one-off return to the
MINI Challenge with Advent Motorsport, the team which helped him to
the 2006 title sparking his burgeoning motorsport career into life.
Since winning the Mini Challenge, the 23-year-old has enjoyed
success in the SEAT Cupra Cup and SEAT Supercopa before finishing
third in the British GT4 Championship with Lotus in 2011. Nordstrom
will be driving a new turbocharged MINI Challenge spec car and is
hoping to pick up where he left off in 2006 at Brands Hatch.
He told Motorsport News: "I haven't driven the new turbocharged
MINIs so it'll be a learning curve but we should have the pace to
fight for the podium."
