02/03/2011 - A group of students from North
West Kent College received an exclusive insight into club
motorsport last week, when they attended the MotorSport Vision
Racing (MSVR) season launch at Brands Hatch.
Pupils Jack Carter, David Miles, Sam Crowley and Ryan Baker,
accompanied by teachers Frank Groom and Winston Sewell, were
invited alongside VIP guests and members of the media to attend the
event, which showcased the 21 series and championships operated by
the racing division of MotorSport Vision.
The group experienced a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes
in the pit lane and visit two MSVR-run series - the Club MSV
Trackday Trophy and the MSV F3 Cup - for a lesson into the
mechanics of setting up a race car.
Frank Groom of North West Kent College said: "The session gave us
the chance to forge links with MVSR, as I feel it most important
that the motorsport industry and colleges work together to make
learning a two way experience.
"All too often we all forget that learning is where we had to start
from, and learning a trade needs input from the industry to ensure
we all keep up with the technology of today. We found the day most
informative and thanks to MSVR for inviting us along."
