09/06/2011 - Jordan Skinner became the first two-time
winner of the Champion of Brands after producing a lights-to-flag
victory at Brands Hatch.
Skinner dominated qualifying and secured pole position
after posting a time of 1.36.809 seconds which was 0.358
seconds faster than second placed Cormac O'Neill. British Formula
Ford racer Nick McBride was third fastest, driving his Spectrum,
and Josh Barnett, who was hoping to become the first CoB two-time
winner, lined up in fourth.
However, the Australian driver was rarely threatened throughout
the race after making a strong getaway from pole position. Fellow
countryman Nick McBride did his best to try and find a way past
Skinner, but in the end, he had to settle for second spot.
The highlight of the race was an intense battle for the final
podium position, which involved title holder Josh Barnett, Cormac
O'Neill and Jonathan Hoad. The trio swapped places on several
occasions, but it was O'Neill, who clinched a podium result,
finishing 0.020 seconds in front of Barnett.
The next Champion of Brands battle will take place on July 16-17
on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit.
