MSVR's GT Trophy series makes eagerly awaited debut

A host of supercars will descend on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit this weekend (22/23 May) when it hosts the inaugural round of the MSVR organised GT Trophy.

The series, promoted by Bute Motorsport, follows the same criteria as MSVR's already very successful GT Cup, but offers drivers more time behind the wheel.

Top marques including Ferrari, Porsche, Lotus and Corvette are expected to feature on the grid for the two hour race, with teams of one or two drivers.

Among the front-runners for the event are British GT pairing Aaron Scott and Craig Wilkins driving a Ginetta G50, while 2008 Britcar 24 hours winners Mark Sumpter and Adrian Slater will also look to figure in their Paragon Porsche 997.

Also featuring on Saturday will be the Champion of Brands competition for Formula Ford cars, with further support from the Gaz Shocks Production BMW Championship, Toyo Tires Racing Saloons and the Dunlop Motorsport News Saloon Car Championship.

The attention on Sunday turns to the SPEED series with a three hour race for Le Mans style prototype cars.

With the series winner at the end of the season rewarded with the opportunity of a drive in the Daytona 24 hours, expect to see a mixture of professional and gentleman racers going all out for a chance to race at the famous American venue.

Supporting the SPEED series on Sunday is the VAG Trophy, Sports 2000, and the Golf GTI Championship.
