Jason Moore has been crowned the 2008 Henderson Formula Palmer Audi champion following a top six finish in a frantic season-finale race at Silverstone.
Starting from third on the grid, Moore came under immediate attack from Jack Clarke and he was down to fourth after a slight lock-up at Club on the opening lap. In a four-way battle for third place, Moore drove a mature race letting both Jolyon Palmer and Alex Brundle by before he settled in sixth position until the finish - gaining enough points to secure the title.
The race for victory was one of the most exciting of the season as Tom Bradshaw and Matt Hamilton swapped places on no fewer than three occasions in the opening stages. Bradshaw held the lead for much of the race but Hamilton continued to hunt him down and he made his attack on the final lap. The pair ran side-by-side down the Hangar Straight, but Bradshaw defended well at Stowe to keep ahead. At the final corner of the season, Hamilton got a good run coming out of Brooklands to pull up alongside but as the chequered flag fell Bradshaw hung on to take the win by just 0.048s.
Clarke took the final podium position after a great defensive drive - holding on ahead of Jolyon Palmer who had stormed through from seventh on the grid. Alex Brundle scored an impressive top five finish after he squeezed by Jason Moore at Priory and there were great performances from Richard Plant and William Zollo who finished seventh and eighth respectively - after both made good moves past Adam Foster. Foster settled in ninth to take the well earned honour of FPA 'rookie of the year' whilst Daniel Brown rounded out the top ten.
In a celebratory podium, Tom Bradshaw was the first to congratulate champion Jason Moore: "I am pleased to have got seven wins this season," said Bradshaw. "It is one more than Jason but he really is a worthy champion. He deserves the title."
Final word on the season must go to the 2008 Henderson Formula Palmer Audi champion, Jason Moore: "It is the proudest moment of my career," he said. "I would just like to thank everyone at FPA and especially my family, who have always supported me."
