Snetterton revs up for FPA Shootout

Top young drivers vie for MABA nomination

Some of the UK's top young drivers will be going head-to-head at Snetterton this weekend (1/2 November) in the FPA Shootout, vying for a chance to win nomination for the prestigious 2008 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award (MABA).

Five finalists have already been selected for this year's MABA prize and the driver that scores the most points from two of this weekend's three races will receive the last nomination spot for the highly coveted award, which recognises outstanding talent among up-and-coming drivers.

Frontrunners in this weekend's competition include regular Formula Palmer Audi drivers Tom Bradshaw, Jolyon Palmer and Jack Clarke. Bradshaw scored a hat-trick of victories when the main series visited Snetterton in August, whilst Clarke has already come agonisingly close to securing MABA nomination as he finished second in last year's shootout competition.

The trio will be joined by top FPA rookie Adam Foster, Richard Plant and Daniel Brown - who scored his first ever Formula Palmer Audi podium finish at Brands Hatch last weekend.

A number of drivers from other formulae will also be competing in the FPA Shootout including double British TKM Karting Champion Matt Bell, who turned heads at Brands Hatch when he set a stunning pace on his single-seater debut. Spanish F3 driver Alex Waters is also feeling confident of Shootout success, and T Cars graduate Howard Fuller will be in the running too.

As well as the high-intensity FPA Shootout, there will also be racing at Snetterton this weekend from the Ginetta G50 Cup, Formul'Academy Euro Series and the Ginetta Junior series.
