Former Formula Palmer Audi frontrunner Aaron Steele will return to the series for the FPA Shootout at Snetterton this weekend (1/2 November 2008).
Steele, who competed in the last ten races of the 2006 season, took part in the end of year Autumn Trophy that year and finished runner-up to Team USA Scholarship driver Dane Cameron. Since then, Steele has competed in the Formula Renault BARC championship and the Enterprise Edge F3 Series, but the lure of a nomination for the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award (MABA) has seen Steele return to Snetterton for the FPA Shootout.
"The prize at the end of the Shootout of getting onto the MABA shortlist is such a great opportunity that it is naturally going to draw people to the race and to competing in the event."
"It would be amazing to win the MABA award and it would change my life overnight. The recognition you get for winning the award and the extra contacts that you can make will propel your career forward by five years. It would be like somebody has pressed the fast forward button!"
Despite not competing in the 2008 FPA season, Steele feels confident ahead of the event and believes that his knowledge of the Snetterton circuit will be an advantage over the weekend. Steele said: "I like Snetterton, it's very fast and flowing which suits my driving style. Some of the corners are very challenging, going through corners like the Bomb Hole and Riches really sort out the men from the boys."
