Jack Clarke finally got the victory that his pace deserved this weekend as he bounced back from earlier disappointment to take a commanding FPA Autumn Trophy win at Brands Hatch.
Starting from pole position, Clarke got a decent start and he was able to build a gap back to Tom Bradshaw in the early stages. Having been the quickest drivers throughout the day, Clarke and Bradshaw pulled away from the rest of the field but Bradshaw had no answer to Clarke on this occasion and the Surrey driver took the win by just over three seconds: "I just wanted to see the headline 'Clarke of the Course' on the FPA website!" said Clarke. "I am really happy with this victory."
Jolyon Palmer drove consistently and he comfortably held off the attentions of Matt Bell to take the final podium position. Bell's speed over the weekend had not been rewarded in the first two races but he was able to put in a great display in the final race and take a well earned fourth place.
Daniel Brown and Niall Quinn had a memorable battle for a podium position earlier in the day and they renewed their scrap in race three - this time for fifth at the finish.
Quinn had the upper hand for much of the race but with just three laps to go, Brown crept inside of Quinn at Paddock Hill Bend. No sooner had Brown taken the position, Quinn was back ahead as he launched past the Momo-backed racer at Druids. Quinn continued to defend but on the last corner of the last lap, Brown got a fantastic run coming out of Clearways - the pair crossed the line almost side by side with Brown getting the nod by just 0.166s.
Alex Waters pressured home both Brown and Quinn, picking up more valuable points with a seventh place and the ever improving Joe Paterson took an eye catching eighth.
The FPA Shootout and Autumn Trophy concludes at Snetterton next weekend with Tom Bradshaw at the top of the standings: "I have never been that great at Brands believe it or not," said Bradshaw. "Thing's went well for me at Snetterton earlier in the season so I am really looking forward to going back."
