McLaren Autosport BRDC Award finalists announced

FPA champion Moore amongst five chosen contenders

Five of the six contenders for the prestigious McLaren Autosport BRDC Award have been announced today (25 September).

The five finalists who have been chosen will be joined by the sixth finalist who will be the winner of the Formula Palmer Audi shoot-out at Snetterton (1/2 November).

Jason Moore, who clinched the 2008 Henderson Formula Palmer Audi Championship at Silverstone last weekend, will be joined by a host of Formula Renault drivers. Champion Adam Christodoulou, runner-up Alexander Sims and fourth placed Dean Stoneman have made the shortlist. Seventeen year old Wayne Boyd, who currently leads the Formula Ford Championship, completes the quintet.

Attention now turns to who will win the final slot, with Moore's FPA title rivals Tom Bradshaw and Jolyon Palmer sure to be putting their names in the frame.

When the last finalist has been announced they will be evaluated over a two day test at Snetterton where they will be put through their paces in a single seater, a DTM Mercedes and an Aston Martin N24, before being interviewed by a specialist panel at the McLaren Technology Centre.

The winner will be announced at the Autosport Awards on 7 December and will join a list of previous winners including Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, David Coulthard, Dario Franchitti and Gary Paffett.

The FPA shoot-out, where the final driver will be chosen for the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award, takes place at Snetterton on 1/2 November. For more information on this event please click here.
