X-Bow flies at Brands Hatch

New KTM car makes appearance on Club MSV trackday

The KTM X-Bow, being run by Carlin Motorsport, was on track yesterday (Wednesday) at Brands Hatch. The team were taking part in a Club MSV trackday in order to develop its driving characteristics for potential owners.

The X-Bow consists of a Dallara chassis powered by a 2.0 litre Audi engine which generates 240bhp at a top speed of over 200km/h. British GT driver Aaron Scott has been entrusted with developing the car and has relished the challenge: "This is hugely different to the Viper I usually drive, which is all about power. The KTM is more about cornering and much more agile. Compared to what I have driven before it's more like a Ferrari 360 or 430. It sounds strange but the best analogy that I have for it, is that it is like driving a bike as you are out in the elements a bit, but the car is fantastic and you feel safe in it."

Carlin Motorsport, who continue to enjoy tremendous success in single seater racing, are involved in developing the car. Carlin Motorsport's Steve Hollman was at the track today: "This is the first test we have done with the car and how we ran it this morning is exactly how it was when it came out of the KTM factory. Over the course of the day we have changed the damper settings on it and put some racing tyres on it in order to improve the aerodynamics but also to improve the driving for prospective customers."

"A car like this also draws a lot of attention, both on the race track and on the road. When you pull up to a petrol station in it you get more people looking at it than a Ferrari!"
