Formula Palmer Audi Championship
With a proven track record as one of the leading training grounds for aspiring F1 drivers, Formula Palmer Audi is widely recognised as a superb platform for developing young talent.
FPA graduates have progressed their careers to Formula One, Champ Cars, DTM, British Touring Cars and World Touring Cars, and for the past three seasons an FPA competitor has been nominated for the McLaren Autosport BRDC award. 18 year old Stefan Wilson became the first FPA driver ever to lift the prestigious Young Driver trophy in December 2007, beating a host of other more-experienced racers.
As the cars are equal, the racing is close and overtaking frequent. The cars have 300 bhp from Audi 1.8 turbo engines and are fitted with the innovative "overboost" button that increases power to 360bhp for an eight second burst to aid overtaking and defending.
FPA visits some of the best circuits in the UK and supports some of the biggest events in British motorsport, including DTM, A1GP and the FIA World Touring Car Championship. The FPA Shootout, scheduled to take place at Snetterton in November, gives Britain's brightest young prospects the chance to battle it out for the final place in the 2008 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award scheme.
