The American SpeedFest was launched in 2013 to great acclaim. Fusing American-oriented motoring and motorsport with music, food and entertainment, the event was a huge hit with specators and families in particular. The world-famous Brands Hatch is the perfect host venue - its natural amphitheatre offers unrivalled views of all the action, and its facilities are second to none. And it has great road links too, being just 5 minutes from junction 3 of the M25.
The iconic Kent track was transfomed into a scene from Daytona for a fourth successive year on 10/11 June when American SpeedFest IV took place. The superb NASCAR Whelen Euro Series made its return as the headline act, bringing with it all the pomp and circumstance that we so closely associate with the US. Outrageous driver introductions, cheerleaders and The Star Spangled Banner all featured, building up towards a bumper-to-bumper contest reminiscent of the world-famous Sprint Cup!
The American theme continued across the support races with Bernie's V8s, a series showcasing powerful classic American cars. The Anglo American Formula 5000 cars wowed the crowd with their unique mix of noise and drama, recalling the formula's Halcyon days.
Spectators had plenty away from the track too with a host of themed activities including live music throughout the day, monster trucks (including those offering passenger rides), American cuisine and our very own Victory Lane, where spectators were just inches from the cars and drivers for the NASCAR post-race celebrations! There was also a myriad of classic American cars and bikes on display, including Hot Rod and Street Rods from the VHRA and NSRA respectively, for the first time.
Free kids' entertainment and cheerleader displays all added to the fun at this brilliant, totally unique day out for all the family.
SpeedFest will return in 2017 - for more information please visit the official website here.
